Our AFM community is invited to join this historical commemoration at the West River Quaker Burial Ground. This historic site dates back to 1672 and the early settlers of the area. This commemoration connects with this year’s 350th commemoration of Baltimore Yearly Meeting. All are welcome to join (In person or Zoom—TBD). Click here to learn more about the brief history of West River or a more detailed account through archives at Swarthmore.
The public is invited to attend the 350th anniversary program and rededication on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Galesville Memorial Hall. The program will include brief Quaker worship, brief talks including colorful local history, an ice cream social and tours of the historic site. (Yes, Maryland Quakers also played an important role in U.S. ice cream history.)
